“Neukölln is an incredibly creative place . Many fascinating ideas are born here,” says Nadia Seniuta, the center manager of the Neukölln Arcaden. “It is very important to us to give artists the opportunity to showcase their projects and present themselves to a wide audience.”
The Neukölln Arcades offer space for art from various projects all year round and give artists the opportunity to present their creative ideas in the center – in the shopping arcade, on walls, on the floor or simply in the middle of it all.

From waste paper to a sustainable book on the art of living.
In the upcycling workshop “BioBuchBerlin – From Waste Paper to Sustainable Art Book” on September 20, 2024, participants can create their own picture book with themes, wishes, visions, etc., that are relevant to them, in an ecological and artistic way. Using waste paper and cardboard, flyers, advertisements, magazines, etc., which often end up unread in the recycling bin, we will combine our personal favorite texts and images. These can later be further developed with other leftover materials into truly unique, personal works of art.
Inspired by the alternative Argentinian publishing cooperative Eloisa Cartonera , which collaborates with the waste paper collectors in Buenos Aires, the Cartoneros, the idea arose for a self-created, sustainably produced personal LifeArtBook.
Suitable for ages 6 and up, and family-friendly . You are welcome to bring your own waste paper . Tools such as scissors, glue, and leftover materials are available and can also be brought along.
Starting September 16, 2024, Sergio will be redesigning our long, narrow corridor leading to the customer restrooms on the ground floor, so that his artwork, similar to the orange wall, will adorn the center. The artwork will be applied to the wall in the form of self-adhesive wallpaper . Sergio will install the wallpaper with the artwork over several nights.
The collaboration with the Museum of Technology, in the form of a month-long exhibition, is entering its second phase. From August 16th to September 16th, 2024, the museum will present further sustainable artworks made of paper under the same title as before : “Paper Future Labs by Haus des Papiers .” This group exhibition creates connections between artistic research and scientific findings.

From July 19th to 26th, you can experience something special at the Arcades. Artist Yu Park will be captivating visitors with her live art performance right here in our center. During our opening hours, she’ll be transforming the back wall of our ground-floor reception area into a work of art, and you can witness it all firsthand. On July 26th, the completion of the painting will be celebrated with live music by Vincent Laju and dance by Bboy Khaire between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM . Come join us!
Shortly after “48 Hours Neukölln,” on July 10 , the “Paper Future Lab” by “Haus des Papiers” will open an exhibition at the Neukölln Arcades, which will be on display there until August 10. The grand opening will be supported by museum director Annette Berr. A live performance by Lili Theilen will take place on August 9 at 1 p.m.
From July 10th to 16th, the “House of Paper” will share its premises with “ Alternative Realities III” , an art project by the Department of Culture of the Neukölln District Office, in which three 7th grade classes have explored urban architecture.
On June 28th and 29th, the Neukölln Arcades will once again host “48 Hours Neukölln .” This art festival has become an integral part of the district. For 48 hours, the neighborhood transforms into a melting pot of creativity, art, performance, and vibrant activity, offering more than 1,000 artists the opportunity to showcase their work to a wide audience each year.
This year, the Neukölln Arcades have provided two spaces for creative minds. On both days, ten different performances and productions will be presented in the two rooms. These include short films and series of images, all aimed at prompting viewers to reflect. This year’s festival motto is “Urban Silence” .
